The breath of the dying earth

about

We are facing a long instrumental suite where field recordings and digital equipments deal with each other until they bound together.

The environmental records were taken in 2015 into the Salse di Nirano’s Nature Reserve. The heart of this protected area is characterized by an unusual geological phenomenon called “salse eruttive”, consisting in the ascent of cold clayey mud from the underground together with hydrocarbon that builds up volcanic-like cones a few meters high while drying.

The electronic part was recorded live into Leonardi’s studio in December 2018, with a digital drum-sampler and an analogic filter, with a bare work of post-procution and editing.

The conceptual intent is to depict a soundscape that describes the sufference of the Earth under the abuses of humanity like global warming, deforestation and greenhouse gases infesting the atmosphere.
